Join us for a joint reading and brief conversation with two rising writers, Mira Dougherty-Johnson and Jenny Xie. Hear their insights and inspirations as the two talk about their writing processes and journeys. After the reading, there will be a Q&A with the writers.

Mira Dougherty-Johnson’s novel-in-progress, Art Objects explores representation and portrayal and asks the question of who inherits power over narration and the creation of stories. The novel tells the story of a child born into the New York Art World in the 70’s, who must confront her family and its public, glamorous legacy.

Jenny Xie’s first novel, Holding Pattern, is an exploration of a mother-daughter relationship strained by cultural and generational differences, and how the main character repairs intimacy through the complex work of professional cuddling
