In Walking on Air, Dr. Powers shares how she created a fulfilling and joyful life after traumatic loss and how she has gone beyond the acceptance of losses and learned to “throw love at” her biggest challenges in life, like addiction (hers and others), grieving, divorce, illness (including her father’s Alzheimer’s disease) and aging.

Author Bio:
Susan Carroll Powers, PhD, is a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice for more than forty years in New York City and the east end of Long Island. After receiving her doctorate from Fordham University in the Bronx, she studied Gestalt Synergy with Ilana Rubenfeld on a post-doctoral level. She has also been a mentee of Dr. Tian Dayton for over thirty years, learning the methods of psychodrama and experiential therapy.
Dr. Powers has led workshops for many years and specializes in grieving and recovery from codependency. She has given workshops on recovery for couples and individuals at the Onsite Recovery Center in Tennessee and the Caron Foundation in Pennsylvania, two major codependency treatment centers. She considers herself a spiritual seeker and has studied many different spiritual and humanistic traditions over the years.
Her first book, Ruthless Grieving, The Journey to Acceptant and Beyond, has helped many readers recover from traumatic loss. Her second book, Walking on Air, Embracing the Uncertainties of Life with an Open Heart, takes readers beyond acceptance to the methods she has found to living a full, rich life.
