Insight Sunday with Stephen Laub

June 25, 10:30 am11:30 am.

Insight Sunday returns with multidisciplinary artist Stephen Laub. Originally from California, Laub moved to New York City in 1977, where his performances and videos were presented at venues such as 112 Greene Street, The Kitchen, and MoMA, and his sculptural work was represented by the Elan Wingate Gallery. He taught at Tyler School of Art and then in the Art Department at Rutgers University, Newark, retiring in 2018.

Insight Sundays, held the last Sunday of each month, provides individual artists with the opportunity to talk in-depth about their processes, techniques, and concepts in the presence of their work. The program allows the audience to see through the artist’s eye. It is a monthly program open to the public and free to our members. Laub’s work is included in our summer exhibition, Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing, opening on June 24th. Join us for the public opening on 6/24 from 6-7 PM to see Laub’s work before his Insight Sunday on June 25th.

Stephen Laub is a multidisciplinary artist. Over the last 54 years, his work in performance art, video, film, and sculpture has explored relationships between sculpture and photography, object and image, identity, and history. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is in numerous private and public collections. He currently lives and works in Water Mill.
