Knowledge Friday with Mark Matousek

Bestselling author, teacher, and speaker Mark Matousek invites you to explore the world of Emerson in his latest book Lessons From An American Stoic: How Emerson Can Change your Life, and we invite you to join us as we continue with yet another prestigious member of our community as an ongoing part of our Knowledge Friday Series.

Drawing on the transformational teachings of America’s first philosopher, Mark focuses on self-trust, originality, and nonconformity during this inspiring event. He teaches that within each person is a “direct path revealing the wisdom already inside you,” and shares Emerson’s advice on how to put this wisdom to use. As Emerson wrote in his famous essay, “Self-Reliance,” “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.”

Focusing on personal awakening and creative excellence, Mark mentors and guides students through transformational writing methods and self-inquiry. Knowledge Fridays, held the first Friday of each month, highlight outstanding East End locals with various backgrounds and careers. The program allows the audience to meet and learn about dynamic, inspiring, and fascinating East Enders. It is a monthly program open to the public and free to our members.
