National Theater Live at Guild Hall
In addition to the highly anticipated return of THE MET: Live in HD on October 5, Guild Hall (158 Main Street, East Hampton) is thrilled to announce they will once again present selections from the National Theater Live (NTL). The 2024 season will feature the best of British theater and will include three performances of some of NTL’s most popular broadcasts, Hamlet, Prima Facie, and Present Laughter. For over 15 years, National Theater Live has filmed unmissable theatre live from Britain’s most exciting stages to screen in thousands of cinemas around the globe. Their productions have been seen by an audience of over 12 million people, and are captured with state-of-the-art techniques, tailored to every play.
The NTL series at Guild Hall will begin with Hamlet on Thursday, October 24 at 7 PM, staring Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch, filmed live at the Barbican. With epic, lavish staging and costumes which look beautiful on screen, Hamlet was the National Theater Live’s bestselling broadcast as of 2017 and has now seen by over 800,000 people worldwide. In addition to Cumberbatch, the cast includes Ciarán Hinds, Sian Brooke, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Anastasia Hille, and Jim Norton. Time Out called Hamlet “One of the most visually and atmospherically stunning productions I’ve ever seen, of anything, ever.”
The Telegraph affirmed “Andrew Scott’s revelatory performance shows why Noël Coward is hailed a genius.” In addition to Scott, the cast includes Monica Reed, Liz Essedine, Kitty Archer, and Enzo Cilenti.
Tickets for all screenings are $20 ($18 for members) and may be purchased online at guildhall.org. Louise & Howie’s Coffee Bar will be open before and during the program for refreshments, which are permitted in the theater.
