Shelter Island Friends of Music concludes its 2025 season with a performance by the internationally acclaimed Borromeo String Quartet on Sunday, October 12 at 6:00 PM at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. For more than 25 years, the Borromeo String Quartet has been recognized as one of the most important chamber ensembles of our time. Winners of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Cleveland Quartet Award, and Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award, the Borromeo has performed across the globe at major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. They have collaborated with leading composers such as John Cage, Steve Reich, Osvaldo Golijov, and Jennifer Higdon, and are admired both for their fresh interpretations of the classical canon and their championing of contemporary voices.

The ensemble will perform works by Haydn, Vijay Iyer, and Dvořák, and a reception with the artists will follow the performance.
