Sophia Kickhofel, an alto saxophonist from Apple Valley, Minnesota, began studying classical saxophone at the age of 10 and discovered jazz at 13. By high school, she was dedicated solely to jazz, performing with national honor ensembles including NYO Jazz and the National Association for Music Education Jazz Band. She has been recognized with prestigious honors such as a YoungArts Finalist award and the Irv Williams Fellowship.

In addition to leading her own ensembles across the Midwest, Kickhofel has shared the stage with artists such as Sean Jones, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ulysses Owens Jr., and Victor Goines. Her performances have brought her to Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, Lincoln Center Shanghai, and Dizzy’s Club. Currently a student at The Juilliard School in New York City, she studies with pianist Marc Cary and saxophonist Dan Block. Through her music, Kickhofel seeks to create a sense of empathy and community within her audiences.

Concert audience members are encouraged to bring a beach chair, a picnic and enjoy the evening (or afternoon)! All events are free, but space and parking are limited, so please arrive early, and be considerate of our neighbors.
