“In life true colors is to show what one is really like, to reveal one’s true nature or character. In art, true colors refers to the natural colors of an object, or to the red, green, and blue components of an image. For this exhibit we combine the two. Vibrancy of color meets the character behind the creation. Engaging geometric patterns of one painter greets abstract faces of another whose color choices bring each canvas to life with their brightness creating the power and presence. A third painter fuses the geometric and the figurative with playful narratives while a fourth makes words and colors dance with insightful messages and equations. Floppy disks tell their own colorful story with a nod to the technology of the past with handwritten notes like ‘New Wave’, ‘Liza’s Master’s Thesis’ and ‘Lifeline’ still visible on the front labels. Neon butterflies speak of rebirth alongside abstract mixed media works inviting the viewer to let the combination of colors color their imagination. Nothing against black and white but sometimes color is hard to beat. It’s true.”
