WATERWAYS: Maritime Folk Music & Ballads: The Jordan Shapiro Trio

The Jordan Shapiro Trio:Jordan Shapiro, piano/accordion/guitar/vocals;Noah Chase, mandolin/guitar/vocals; Tim Kiah, upright bass/vocals.

The Jordan Shapiro Trio will perform the music of Old Long Island, including 19th century parlor songs, whaling and maritime ballads, sea shanties, fiddle tunes and more. 

Multi-instrumentalist Jordan Shapiro performs in various styles of music. He performed on keyboards in many ensembles, including a Zappa tribute band and Gary Lucas’ Gods and Monsters. Jordan also leads a jazz-fusion Balkan folk project called “Choban Elektrik.” His bluegrass band “Astrograss” performs annually at the legendary Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.

Noah Solomon Chase is an Israeli–American musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and mandolinist for the Jewish rock band Soulfarm.

Timothy Kiah is a multifaceted musician and composer. He was recently awarded the City Artist Corps Grant by the New York Foundation of the Arts. Kiah’s compositions and arrangements have been performed and premiered at numerous venues, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Blue Note, and Joe’s Pub. He has been commissioned by organizations such as Chamber Music America and Lincoln Center Theatre. He is a composer and bassist for the Chelsea Symphony, NYC.
