Winter Solstice Evening Woodland Walk
You are invited to join the staff at Hallock State Park Preserve for a reflective evening walk through the quiet woodland trails to consider the passing of another year and the coming of the Holiday season.
For thousands of years, people have observed the Winter Solstice as a time to observe the shortest day of the year and to anticipate the seasonal changes associated with longer days and shorter nights ahead. In the quiet dusk, we will listen for the soft sounds of nature on this first evening of Winter. Lanterns will be provided for use during the walk and warm beverages will be available afterwards. Dress appropriately for the weather. Reservations are suggested by emailing hallocksp@parks.ny.gov or calling 631.315.5475.
